Quick Summary
Pick this pathway if you want extra time on practical projects to help you master the skills for today’s digital creative sector – like making prototypes for apps, websites and games.
Our practical projects are classroom-based but some do involve professional partners, who can offer pupils experience of how ‘real’ industry experts run creative projects with their clients.
Digital Creatives is available as a Level 3 pathway, which is undertaken in Year 12 and 13 and has been especially popular among students who did the ‘DC’ Pathway in Years 10 and 11, or the iMedia qualification. So there is a clear progression, right from when students pick their options in Year 9, through to Sixth Form and beyond for digital jobs in the creative sector.
On certain projects, this pathway will tap into the expertise of local companies such as web developers and graphics studios to get an insight into how their digital skills are helping to develop the local economy of the South Lakes.
Plus points for Digital Creatives include opportunities to have extra time and space to use the latest software to make professional products that will make a great portfolio for you!
In terms of future career directions, this pathway keeps all options open for students, whether that’s our Level 3 course in Sixth Form, or a switch to college, or looking further ahead to the growing number of University courses targeting the UK’s fast growing digital economy.
