Local business is worldwide leader

Brokk in Crooklands is the UK headquarters for the world’s leading supplier of robotic demolition machines.

Founded in Sweden in 1976, Brokk manufactures machines that are tailor made for high performance demolition for customers in sectors ranging from  construction and metal processing to the nuclear industry.

The UK office in Crooklands is run by managing director Nathan Sayers, an ex-QES pupil who is keen to create opportunities for the next generation of local students.

“It was a pleasure to welcome the students from QEStudio into our company to get an insight into what we do and the areas of business we cover,” said Nathan. “I’d welcome them back in the future.”

Engineering internship in Kendal

Visiting Brokk gave our Year 10 engineering students the perfect chance to extend their classroom learning with some hands-on experience out in the real world of work! So having studies hydraulics and pumbs in lesssons, the students got the chance to see all that in practice with the products that have made this local company a market leader.  The highlight of their visit was using the simulator where each student got the chance to operate one of the machines to grab and stack wood. Engaging with local companies such as Brokk to enhance students’ learning is a key element of the Pathway curriculum at QEStudio. Students find these interactions invaluable and the chance to get hands-on is fantastic!

All Brokk machines pack an amazing amount of power in a small package.

A five ton Brokk is as powerful as a 25 ton excavator, and the smallest 500kg Brokk gets the job done 500-600 (!) percent faster than with handheld tools!
