Local business is worldwide leader

Mardix has long been one of Kendal’s biggest business success stories – so we’re delighted the company is so willing to offer opportunities to our students.

Founded in 1966, Mardix has grown to become the largest UK-based manufacturer of critical power equipment.

The business became Anord Mardix in January 2018, after its merger with Anord unified two of the best brands in the industry, with a collective pedigree of 100 years experience in the critical power equipment industry.

Anord Mardix is a worldwide operation with customers in a huge range of sectors, including energy and rail as well as cloud and enterprise data centers.

Engineering internship in Kendal

James is the very lucky QEStudio student who’s enjoying the opportunity of an internship at the Kendal site of Anord Mardix, which has a long tradition of  offering high quality and highly skilled employment. The company is known as a great learning environment where staff can create and build careers in electrical engineering. These photos show James working on electrical equipment for use in rail systems, such as setting up the control section and laying out the electrical components on network rail power distribution units, as well as fitting inner frame and doors and putting the  finishing touches on rail panel units.

Anord Mardix has engineering teams that work from design through to production on its market-leading power products.

Due to continued expansion acosss sites including Kendal, Preston and Blackburn, the company is always recruiting in roles the range from electrical  design engineers, through to fitters and welders.
