Pick the Engineering pathway if you’re interested in developing an understanding of professional engineering by combining academic and practical content in a vocational setting.
Link with professional partners will include local employers supporting teaching and learning by sharing industrial experience and expertise, as well as opportunities to visit workplaces.
Engineering is a Level 2 pathway that students start in Year 10, as well as a Level 3 Pathway in Sixth Form, and is especially suitable for students who are organised, motivated and competent in both Maths and Physics.
This pathway will tap into the expertise of local employers who will have the opportunity to set projects or to provide the context for project work.
Plus points for Engineering include the ethos of learning through direct experience and so it offers a mix of theoretical and practical work plus independent research and project work, particularly in electronics.
In terms of future directions, this pathway can lead to a Level 3 Engineering BTEC and it also supports application for A levels in Maths and Physics (subject to meeting their entry requirements).
