Working with Abrahams Store

We owe huge thanks to Josie Beeson and her team at Abrahams Store for providing such a brilliant ‘creative brief’ for our sixth form Art & Design students: to create Christmas-themed window displays for the shop on Market Square in Kirkby Lonsdale.

The project is a great example of how we’d like to work with local organisations who can help us bridge the gap between the classroom and the ‘real’ world of business.

“Thank you Emily Wright, Lizzy Ware & Oriana Tsouvalis from QES Studio School for our lovely Christmas windows,” posted Josie on Facebook. “They’re fabulous – well done!”

Art & Design students creating window displays for Christmas!

Our students kick-started the project by visiting the shop, where Josie explained her brief and showed samples from the store’s amazing range of products. Back at school, the students then created artefacts for the displays, such as variety of techniques, including paper cutouts and X. Josie then welcomed the students back in store to install their designs to complete the suitably festive window displays (and still have time to celebrate with a quick trip to the chippy!).

Abrahams packs an awful lot under its one roof on the Market Square:  men’s & women’s clothing plus accessories, jewellery, skincare, cosmetics & grooming products, not to mention new homeware & gift items each season!

Proprietor Josie Beeson says that right from the beginning, the aim for Abrahams has been to find & deliver the next exciting product or brand to their growing band of loyal followers!
