Health & Education Studies

Level 2 & 3 Pathway

Full Details

Quick Summary

Pick this Health & Education pathway if you want to explore the Health and Social Care sector that covers some of the most important issues facing society, such as people’s physical and mental health and the support of services from the Police and Hospitals to Councils & Government.
Links with professional partners will include working with colleagues from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service as they teach us about their role in the community that extends far beyond what you might expect and look at the health promotion campaigns they are working on.
Health & Education Studies is available as a Level 2 pathway, which students complete in Years 10 and 11, plus a Level 3 pathway, which is done in Sixth Form.  So there is a clear progression, right from when students pick their options in Year 9 for anyone keen on the healthcare sector.
On the Health & Education Studies pathway, we will work with a range of local health and social care practitioners and community organisations, such as our Level 3 students becoming accredited ‘Dementia Friends’ champions.
Plus points for the Health & Education Studies pathway include our focus on immersive lessons, where topics could include learning about existing health campaigns like Sport England’s ‘This Girl Can’ to help you plan and deliver your own health promotion campaign.
In terms of future directions, the Level 2 pathway can lead to many routes at Sixth Form, while students can then progress to options such as degree courses in nursing, midwifery and related health disciplines, or further learning in a workplace setting through an apprenticeship programme.
