Our staff have been joining the national drive to make PPE by starting to supply our local NHS and care services with visors to protect key workers.
A team of technology teachers initially made a first batch of 170 visors just after Easter, using the same laser cutter normally used for lessons in the school’s workshops!
A first order of 70 visors was sent to Continued Care, a local company who support people in their own homes, along with more goggles from the school’s art department, plus extra gloves and goggles sourced from other areas.
Then a further 100 visors was collected by Morecambe Bay Health Trust.
Head of Technology, Kate Vose said the staff in her department were just pleased to be able to help the national effort on PPE.
The team has now made about 500, which also includes a delivery of 100 to a covid ward at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
PPE has also been sent to some to local first responders, physiotherapists and various members of the public for personal use.
Mrs Vose says her team can also supply visors to other organisations if people need them.
