Our second Apprenticeship Evening is a great chance to chat about your options with our Professional Partners, helping you to plan your future!  This event is open to all QES and QEStudio students from Years 10-13 and parents/carers too.

QEStudio opened its virtual doors in September 2017 and we held our first Apprenticeship Evening in October 2017. This event was a real success and we were impressed by the number of students and parents that attended.

There is an increasing amount of interest in apprenticeship routes and we’re finding that employers and training providers are working harder than ever to provide apprenticeship schemes at varying levels, meaning there is something for everyone.

We feel it’s our duty to keep you informed, so please do come along to explore the astounding number of opportunities that are available right here on our doorstep!

As one of the most reputable hospitality groups in the UK, Northcote says its careers stand out from the rest. Their business offers a range of apprenticeships in partnership with their training provider.

Part of  the English Lakes Hotels group  that has award-winning venues across the Lake District and North Lancashire, the English Lakes Culinary Academy is a new two year apprenticeship programme for school leavers who want to become chefs. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work alongside the group’s head chefs and train with Michelin-starred head chef, Steven Doherty.  Steven will be running live cookery demonstrations throughout the Apprenticeship Evening – please pop along and see him in action!

Wildsmith Hotels runs award-winning properties including Hipping Hall in Cowan Bridge, Forest Side in Grasmere and Ryebeck in Bowness. The business offers a wide range of job opportunities based across their properties in the Lake District and North Lancashire.

Mardix is a UK based manufacturing company whose products are installed in commercial buildings around the world, ranging from data centres to the international headquarters of major companies. Mardix has a well established apprenticeship scheme that’s open to students leaving school or college.

A big local employer based in Burneside near Kendal, James Cropper creates some of the world’s most distinctive and technically advanced paper products, using materials from cotton and wood to carbon fibre. In recent years, the business has recruited  apprentices in a variety of roles including engineering, business administration, purchasing, marketing and IT.

Gilbert Gilkes & Gordon is an internationally established engineering manufacturing company, based in Kendal. A hugely important local employer, the business has a track record of offering engineering apprenticeships.

CITB is the leadership organisation for the UK construction industry and will be on hand to talk to you about their apprenticeship schemes combining learning at a college/training provider with on-site experience to give apprentices the right mix of technical and practical skills.

Gen2 offers a variety of engineering apprenticeship schemes including Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships in General Engineering and Degree Level and Specialist Apprenticeships in Project Management, Nuclear Welding, Electrical, Mechanical, Quality and Instrumentation & Control.

JTL says it trains more apprentices than anyone else in the building services engineering sector and works with over 3000 businesses from large corporations to small local suppliers.

Lancaster Training Services (LTS ) offers apprenticeships in Light and Heavy vehicle mechanics, Vehicle Body & Paint repairs, Parts, Motorcycle Mechanics, Driving Goods Vehicles and Customer Service.

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust (UHMBT) has recently launched two new apprenticeship schemes for 2018,  which are initially focused on existing staff but with the potential to expand in the future and give a jobs boost to the region.

The Army offers apprenticeships  in many areas, such as public services and health, engineering, telecommunications, animal care, IT, logistics, construction and business administration. In fact, the Army is the UK’s largest employer provider of apprenticeships so the opportunities are almost endless!

A local practice with surgeries in Kirkby Lonsdale and Kendal, WVG provides veterinary care with specialist, experienced vets for pets and farm animals. Come along and chat to these amazing professionals about a career in veterinary nursing. .

Net* is a web development company in Preston Patrick that specialises in helping clients to grow their business by creating and designing great looking sites. Net* is committed to the local area and developing local talent.

Lakeland Arts is one of the most significant arts and heritage organisations in the North of England, specialising in historic buildings, museums and gallery collections. Come along and find out more about a career in the arts sector.

Dales Surveying is a consultancy based in Hawes that offers advice to local businesses, landowners and home owners about property, telecoms, renewable energy and planning. The company currently has a vacancy for an Apprentice Drone Pilot & Apprentice Estates Surveyor.

Miles-Moore Ceramics is a pottery studio in Lupton run by husband and wife, Martin and Siobhan. A great example of a local arts enterprise, they specialise in handmade dining ware, tea bowls and  sculpture.

Inspira is a leading career management and personal development organisation operating in the North West of England. They offer help in preparing young people for the world of work by helping with CV’s, applications and understanding and sourcing apprenticeship schemes.

The University of Cumbria says a Degree or Higher Level Apprenticeship is an excellent opportunity to boost your career and gain earn a higher level qualification – all while earning a salary!

Kendal College offers more than 30 different apprenticeships , starting at Level 2 up to Degree Level.

Lancaster & Morecambe College has a wide range of  apprenticeship courses, from Accountancy to  Warehousing and Storage!

Myerscough College  is one of the largest providers of workplace learning in the land-based sector and works with hundreds of employers across the country to find opportunities to train apprentices.

Craven College in Skipton offers apprenticeship courses in many areas.

Newton Rigg College offers apprenticeships in  these areas: Agriculture, Animal Management, Environmental Conservation, Game and Wildlife Management, Hair and Beauty, Horticulture, Land-Based Service Engineering plus Trees and Timber.

 

Handelsbanken began operating in the UK in 1982, and today has a branch network serving local individuals and businesses in 208 communities throughout the country.

 

Angus Fire, based in Bentham, are a global leader in firefighting technology with a remarkable history in manufacturing fire protection products.  Chat to engineering staff about careers in the following areas:- consultancy, project management, design and engineering, documentation, procurement, equipment supply, fire testing, installation, commissioning and maintenance.
